Engineered Vinyl Plank (also known as EVP) is designed to look like hard surface flooring such as stone and hardwood.  It is durable and holds up to water well.

 Engineered Flooring has several benefits:

  • Waterproof
  • Looks like natural stone or wood
  • Increased durability
  • Comfort – EVP has a softer surface than actual wood or stone surfaces.
  • Sound-reducing – It absorbs more sound thus making a quieter room.
  • Affordability – It is much more cost-effective than traditional hardwood and stone flooring.

EVP is also easier to install and remove, which makes it easier to clean and repair while maintaining a realistic look and feel to that of hardwood.

And if you happen to be comparing EVP to LVP flooring, EVP tends to be more durable and less flexible than LVP due to the fact that EVP has a stone-based core.  This means that engineered flooring has benefits in particular uses over LVP and vice versa.  EVP will be better on floors that are used a lot and they are sturdier, but LVP fairs better in environments with a lot of temperature change due to its ability to flex more.
