What is Southern Flooring Solutions connection to Wounded Warrior Project®?

For years, we’ve supported the Wounded Warrior Project®, a foundation that assists injured veterans and their families in rebuilding their lives. While it doesn’t significantly impact our pricing, we know that our contributions help provide critical support, rehabilitation, and career opportunities for those who’ve served our country.

Our dedication to this cause is part of who we are—giving back to the community in ways that extend far beyond business. It’s not about recognition; it’s about doing what’s right.

What is the price of a consultation for cabinetry, and does it apply toward my project?

Designing a kitchen or bathroom is a detailed and time-intensive process, which is why we charge a standard $250 for our cabinetry consultation and design work. This fee covers the 4–6 hours we dedicate to on-site measurements, layout planning, and design preparation. If you move forward with us for your cabinetry project, the $250 fee is credited back toward your final purchase. Contact us today to schedule your consultation and begin designing a space that fits your style and needs!

What’s the difference between solid and engineered hardwood?

Solid hardwood is a single piece of natural wood, while engineered hardwood has a real wood veneer over a plywood or fiberboard core. Engineered wood is more stable in humid environments, while solid wood allows for multiple refinishing cycles.

Can hardwood flooring be installed in kitchens and bathrooms?

While possible, hardwood requires extra precautions in moisture-prone areas. Engineered hardwood is a better option for kitchens, and proper sealing and maintenance help protect wood floors in these spaces. For bathrooms, we generally recommend water-resistant alternatives.

Can I install hardwood over existing flooring?

In some cases, hardwood can be installed over existing floors, but it depends on the current material and subfloor condition. A professional assessment is recommended to determine the best approach.

How long does hardwood flooring last?

With proper care, solid hardwood floors can last 50+ years, while engineered hardwood typically lasts 20-30 years. Refinishing can extend the lifespan of both types.

What’s the best type of tile for high-traffic areas?

Porcelain tile is the most durable and best suited for high-traffic spaces. It resists scratches, stains, and moisture better than ceramic or natural stone.

Can tile be installed over existing flooring?

Yes, but the existing surface must be stable, level, and properly prepared. In some cases, old flooring needs removal before installing tile.

What’s the difference between ceramic and porcelain tile?

Porcelain is denser, more durable, and more water-resistant than ceramic, making it ideal for floors, high-moisture areas, and outdoor use. Ceramic is slightly softer but offers a wide range of styles and colors.

How does luxury vinyl compare to laminate flooring?

Luxury vinyl is fully waterproof, making it ideal for moisture-prone areas, while laminate is more water-resistant but not completely waterproof. Both are durable and designed to mimic natural materials like wood and stone.

Is luxury vinyl flooring comfortable underfoot?

Yes, many LVP and LVT products feature cushioned backings, providing a softer feel than traditional tile or hardwood.

How long does laminate flooring last?

With proper maintenance, laminate flooring can last 15-25 years. High-quality options with thick wear layers offer the longest lifespan.

Can I install vinyl or laminate flooring over existing floors?

Yes, as long as the subfloor is stable and level. Floating installation methods allow vinyl and laminate to be placed over many existing floors without removal.

Can I customize cabinet finishes?

Absolutely! We offer a variety of finishes, including stained, painted, glazed, and distressed looks to match your home’s aesthetic.

What’s the best wood for custom cabinets?

Hardwoods like maple, cherry, and oak provide long-lasting durability, while softer woods like pine offer a rustic charm at a lower cost.

How long does cabinet installation take?

Installation times vary depending on the project size, but our team works efficiently to ensure timely, professional results.
